The Thermal blind Company

details & fabrics

The blinds are made to measure to fit your windows snugly - they will substantially reduce your heat loss & remove down-draughts from single glazed windows. They are ideal for a wide range of windows and are particularly suited to Listed Buildings and traditional sash windows where they can usually be fixed to the existing frame or sash-box. See the gallery for more images and the technical information page for performance details.

Fabric

The blinds have a fade-resistant poly cotton lining and a lovely linen effect polyester fabric to the room side in a range of colour options. This fabric is a textured quality polyester from the ʻWaldorfʼ range by H&S Fabrics, with good drape quality and crease resistance. The range is 9 colours - Rose, Red, Cafe, Caramel, Spice, Oyster, Bamboo, Reseda (green), Blue. NB. terracotta is now discontinued. Samples can be ordered and sent to you - please note that the photograph is not a reliable colour match.

There is an alternative fabric in polyester cotton in a wider colour range, at additional cost, see here for details. Blinds wider than 1.4m are possible but we have yet to find a suitable fabric. Please contact for an update.

Mechanism

The blinds have an aluminium headrail which uses a modern chain pulley system. The standard headrail is 42mm deep & 100mm high, and can be used for blind widths from 360mm to 1.39m wide and comes with a plastic chain as standard (this hangs parallel to the glass). The deluxe headrail (42mm deep x 60mm high) can be used for blind widths from 450mm to 1.39m and is more robust. It comes with a plastic chain as standard (this hangs perpendicular to the glass). See photos here.

For both types a nickel, chrome or brass chain can be supplied but the exact length of the loop will be needed. A more robust winder mechanism with a 1:4 ratio can be used for large blinds.

Fixings

The headrails fix with small brackets which can usually be screwed into your existing window frame. Sometimes a small wooden frame may be needed to fix in the correct location. Photos of your frames should be emailed before ordering to discuss this. The blind ʻsticksʼ to your existing window using self-adhesive magnets, which you fix once you are happy that the blind is hanging correctly. See the dowload section for typical fixing details.
